The survey was conducted between October 1, 2020, to February 20, 2021, to assess the prevalence of hysteria and depression within the Indian population during the Coronavirus pandemic using hard copies and e-copies of the completely voluntary anonymous questionnaire. Depression symptoms and anxiety were assessed using generalised mental disorder questionnaire-7 (GAD-7) and patient health questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9).

The prevalence of anxiety in the total population stood at 80.5 per cent, including 79.3 per cent among medicos and 81.9 per cent among non-medicos, while 73.3 per cent, including 74.7 per cent medicos and 71.7 per cent non-medicos, were found suffering from depression during the Covid-19 pandemic.
