One of the most popular tactics on Bumble’s competitor Tinder is to reset your account so that you can be favoured by the algorithm and get more matches. Does it work on Bumble? Can you get penalized, banned or shadowbanned for it?

We will answer these questions as well as explain how to reset your Bumble account and what best practices you should follow when performing a Bumble reset, a.k.a. deleting your Bumble account and starting a new one right away.

1. What Is Bumble Reset?

Bumble reset is the process of deleting your current Bumble account and immediately restarting it in order to receive more profile impressions as a result of the Bumble reset.

When you reset your Bumble account, you must first delete your account, so keep in mind that you will lose all of your previous swipes, matches, and conversations with other Bumble profiles.

Your profile pictures, profile prompts, and bio information will all be deleted when you restart your Bumble account, so you'll have to recreate them.

2. Does Bumble Reset Work?

Yes, as we explained in our in-depth article about the Bumble algorithm, Bumble reset works.

Your profile will be shown to significantly more potential matches in the first few days after you restart your Bumble account than a similar average Bumble profile. More profile impressions equate to more Bumble matches for you. It is essentially a very strong and long Spotlight that does not cost any Bumble Coins.

There are two main reasons why the Bumble algorithm gives new Bumble accounts a newbie boost.

First, as many dating sites and web apps have discovered, when a user's first experience on the platform is extremely positive, they can retain the user for a longer period of time.

When you sign up for a dating app and get a lot of attractive people matching with you and messaging you within the first couple of days, you will most likely stay on the platform.

The other main reason you get more profile impressions after resetting your Bumble account is that Bumble doesn't know anything about you.

Because the key component of the Bumble matching algorithm is still how appealing your profile is, the algorithm wants to know how appealing or popular you are in comparison to other Bumble profiles. So they expose you to a slew of different types of profiles in order to figure this out as soon as possible.

3. Why Should You Reset Your Bumble Account?

Aside from receiving a newbie boost, there are two other major reasons you should consider resetting your Bumble account.

Overall, there are three primary reasons to reset your Bumble account:

1. You're only getting a few matches.
2. You're constantly running out of new profiles.
3. You were banned from Bumble for violating their policies or Terms of Service.

• Very Low Match Numbers

As previously stated, if you are getting less than two matches per day on average in a crowded neighbourhood, you are doing something wrong.

In this case, we strongly advise you to reset your Bumble account, as this will provide you with more Bumble matches at least temporarily.

• Out Of New Profiles

If you live in a small neighbourhood or in a country where Bumble is not yet widely used, it is possible that after a few weeks of heavy swiping, you will run out of new profiles

If this occurs frequently, it indicates that there aren't many new users signing up for the app. In this case, we recommend that you reset your Bumble account. You'd get a second chance with every profile that swiped you left with your current account.

• Got Blocked Or Banned From Bumble

If you have been blocked by Bumble, the only way to regain access is to completely reset your Bumble account. Bumble blocks or bans are permanent decisions made by Bumble, and you will not be able to regain access to your account after a certain period of time if you have been blocked.

It is especially important in this case to recreate your Bumble profile with login and other data that are completely different from your previous account login data. We don't just mean a different phone number or Facebook account; we also recommend uploading entirely new photos.

4. Does Bumble Penalize Reset With Block Or Shadowban?

Unlike Tinder, which has already taken steps to combat Tinder reset and will ban or at the very least shadowban your account if you attempt to reset it, Bumble does not have a similar policy (yet.)

They even explicitly state on their website that deleting and restarting your Bumble account will not result in any penalties.

Although they do not recommend resetting your Bumble account for various reasons. (Not as a result of a ban or shadowban). They claim that if you reset your account too many times, potential matches will remember your profile and believe you are a fake profile or a bot, causing them to swipe left on your profile.

Although we disagree with Bumble on this, you should focus on improving your profile rather than constantly resetting it. Bumble reset can help you get more matches, but it is too short-term, and you are better off simply improving your profile.

5. How To Reset Your Bumble Account?

Now, if you are certain that you want to delete your Bumble account and create a new one, here are the steps you must take.

Step 1: Remove Bumble From Facebook Linked App Section

This step is only required if you have linked your Bumble account to Facebook, which is no longer required; you can use Bumble without connecting to Facebook as well.

1. Go to Facebook.com and log in
2. Click the arrow in the upper right corner and choose Settings and Privacy, then click Settings
3. On the left side of the screen click on Apps and Website
4. Click on Bumble
5. Scroll down and click Remove and confirm it

Step 2: Delete Your Bumble Account:

1. Open up the Bumble app from your phone
2. Go to “Settings”
3. Scroll down to the bottom and tap on “Delete account”
4. You will be asked why you want to delete your Bumble account, choose one of the options
5. Type “DELETE” to confirm you really want to delete your account.
6. Delete Bumble Account

Remember that doing a Bumble reset will delete all of your current matches and conversations with them. You will not be able to recover them if you reset your account.

If you have a Bumble Boost subscription, you must also cancel it.

Step 3: Delete The Bumble App From Your Phone

Hopefully, you're aware of how to do this (delete an app) on your device.

Step 4: Wait At Least 24 Hours

Although Bumble claims that resetting your account is not necessary, it is always better to be on the safe side. Some people advised waiting at least 24 hours before beginning to recreate your new Bumble account.

Step 5: Recreate Your Bumble Account

It is important to note that if you attempt to reset your account after Bumble has banned you from their platform, you must ensure that all of the data you provide for Bumble with your new account is distinct from your old account.

This includes everything from your phone's SIM card to your IP address, credit card information, Facebook account, and phone number. You shouldn't even use the same profile pictures if you don't want Bumble to link your old and new accounts.

Having said that, here are all of the steps for creating a new Bumble account:

1. Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
2. After the app installation is complete, launch it.
3. Choose your preferred method of registration (Facebook account or Phone number without a Facebook account)
4. Sign in to Facebook or verify your phone number with the code sent to you via SMS, depending on the method you chose.
5. Follow the steps to create your profile.
6. After that, start swiping on Bumble like crazy to reap the benefits of the new account boost.

6. Best Practices Before Resetting Your Bumble Account

As previously stated, while the positive effects of a Bumble reset may not be as significant as those experienced on Tinder, Bumble reset still works.

When you reset your Bumble account, you will receive a nice newbie boost that will help you get a lot more Bumble matches than you are used to on a typical week.

However, keep in mind that this reset boost only lasts a few days after you reset your account. So, when you do a Bumble reset, you should also try to improve your Bumble profile.

Because all of your previous swipes will be deleted, you will have a second opportunity to match with people who swiped you left on your previous Bumble profile.

So, before you begin swiping with your new account like a crazy person, go through all of your profile pictures and try to take better profile pictures of yourself. You can even ask your opposite-sex friends to give you their honest feedback on which of your photos they prefer.

When you invest time in improving your profile, you will receive more Bumble matches not only in the short term due to the new user boost, but also in the long term.
