Work-Life balance isn’t something you find, it's something you create.

Balancing work and life can be exhausting at times, especially for working mothers. It is important to take care of the family and yourself when you are juggling work. Women are always expected to think about or take care of someone like a Husband, Kids, extended family, etc. Women should know that it’s okay to take time for themselves and do something they love.

In today’s fast-paced life, there are numerous options to relieve work stress and to take a break. Here are some tips to achieve work-life balance.

  1. Prioritize - Always prioritize and stand by your bandwidth. Sometimes, women think about the family at work, especially new mothers and answer work calls when they are with the family. It is important to draw those lines and stand up for yourself.

  2. Always have realistic expectations,  it is difficult to multitask and achieve everything you want. Take that space and have a look at your expectations and work process.

  3. Healthy lifestyle choices keep you moving physically, mentally, and emotionally.

  4. Evaluate your schedule before promising your time at the workplace or in your personal life. Make sure to take some leisure time for yourself on a daily basis.

  5. Reduce distractions, improve the quality of work, and complete your task on time. Staying away from social media and keeping your phone away while at work is important to get going at work.

  6. Ask for help when needed, and delegate work to reduce work burden. Take help from your family in terms of work at home or get external help if possible( like babysitting, cleaning, cooking, etc.)

  7. Learn to say NO, when you feel overwhelmed say No. Often women are burdened with household chores, but it’s okay to say NO when you need to. Always say NO to extra work(which isn’t yours) or work assigned after work hours. Prioritize your time and effort.

  8. Do not compare yourself, comparison leads to self-destruction. Appreciate what you have and what you are doing. Comparison affects your strengths and attributes.

There is no right way to balance both work and personal life. Just know that you are not alone, you can ask for help and take time for yourself.
