The Mukhya Mantri Rajshree Yojana was introduced in the budget announcement for the Financial Year 2016-17 to promote a positive attitude toward girls in society and to enhance the health and educational condition of girls in the state of Rajasthan. The government established the Chief Minister Rajshri Yojana in the state on June 1, 2016, to encourage the birth of females, educate them, and empower them. Smt. Vasundhara Raje, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, presented the annual budget report on March 8, 2016 in Jaipur, the state capital. Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana (MRY) and Mukhyamantri Saksham Baalika Yojana (MSBY) are two government projects targeted at improving the state's condition for female children. These two projects, which were launched by the Rajasthan government this year and are supposed to bring women empowerment and equality to the state, are the state's flagship programmes. Girl children must be educated and empowered in order for them to live with their heads held high.

Overview

The Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana is a flagship programme introduced by Rajasthan's Chief Minister in the 2016 annual budget for the state's common people, which would give financial assistance in educating the state's female children. In the state of Rajasthan, there are several occasions where a girl's right to education is denied. The education system does not have any strategies in place to reintroduce dropout females to school. As a result, the Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana will be committed to all female students, particularly those from low-income and backward households, by providing financial assistance for basic education.

Vision of Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana

Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana is a scheme in Rajasthan that aims to assist female students in schools by giving financial assistance in the form of grants or, more popularly known as scholarships. The majority of households regard their female child as a financial burden and do not support their girl child's education. As a result, the government has chosen to focus on women's education and empowerment, as well as to take the required steps to address the negative issues impacting female education in society.

Objective of the Scheme

The Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana's main aim is to remove child mortality and child marriage from society. This programme aims to increase the girl-to-boy ratio while simultaneously promoting girls' education in the state. This programme is implemented in both rural and urban regions.

A need of the hour

Rajasthan is a state in Northern India where women's education is in bad shape. The majority of women in the state are denied access to quality education and professional opportunities. The state's sex ratio is similarly deficient, with the number of females per thousand males in this state being frighteningly low. As a result, women in the state, particularly those from poor, backward, and uneducated households, have been denied sufficient liberty and equality in society. Women in the state have a relatively low literacy rate when compared to men.

Gender inequality and education in Rajasthan

Up to this point, the state of Rajasthan has been plagued by two main stigmas: illiteracy and gender inequality. The state's female literacy rate is extremely low, since the majority of girl children drop out of school and do not complete their primary education. Out of the 35 states in India, Rajasthan is the state with the lowest level of female literacy. It is ranked 33rd in terms of male and female literacy rates combined. According to the most recent census data, roughly 52.6% of females in the state are educated, compared to an average of about 65% throughout India. As a result, programmes like the Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana will undoubtedly aid in this improvement.

Benefits of the Scheme

The Chief Minister has pledged to increase female literacy in the state and to encourage female students to pursue higher education by offering financial assistance and other opportunities.
